At this week’s regular session of the Huntsville City Council, interim City Manager Chuck Pinto presented a timeline regarding the annexation of a land site that SHSU is considering for a research park. A full-service hotel is being considered for the area up for possible annexation, and Pinto said, “You won’t get a full-service hotel under normal development if you don’t have alcohol available.”
At the present time, an alcohol petition is being circulated for alcohol sales to be sold in more areas of Huntsville. Pinto commented further . . . .

The council will be looking into the annexation process. Pinto also recommended, parallel to the annexation process, a P-U-D, or planned unit development, be put into the zoning ordinance. He said, “It allows you to sit with the developers in the development at the time [and] come up with a very locked-in type of mixed land use plan” to have the controls that are needed.
