The Huntsville City Council will meet for a regular session tonight at six at City Hall.
There will be a presentation of the SHSU Criminal Justice summer interns for the Huntsville Police Department.
Tonight’s “Consent Agenda” includes a resolution setting two public hearings on annexation of land as directed by the Council for the proposed SHSU Technology Park. The “Consent Agenda” also authorizes the Interim City Manager to apply for, and accept if awarded, an Assistance to Firefighters grant for $136,700 dollars along with a 10 percent match. Also, on the same agenda, is the ratification of an application and acceptance of an Office of Justice 2012 Bulletproof Vest grant for $6,100 dollars with a 50 percent match.
On tonight’s “Statutory Agenda” is the first reading of an ordinance setting rates and cost of service adjustment with CenterPoint Energy.
“Standing Items” open for possible discussion at tonight’s session include selection of a permament City Manager, the Fiscal Year 2012-13 budget, and the proposed SHSU Research Park.
Mayor Mac Woodward will discuss a resolution adopting the Strategic Initiative Proposal.
In the City Manager’s Report will be updates on City construction, grants, studies, projects, purchases, and economic development.
In closed “Executive Session,” the Council will consult with counsel on the legal issues of Tarvin v. the City and possible settlement of Certificate and Convenience and Necessity service areas with the Walker County Special Utility District.
