Commissioners Approve State Health Services and Shelter Agreement

Published on July 11, 2012 by Larry Crippen

At this week’s session of Walker County Commissioners’ Court, Emergency Management Coordinator Butch Davis spoke with Commissioners about an agreement regarding the Department of State Health Services and the Walker County Storm Shelter.

Previously, when pod sites had been set up by DSHS, one of the sites had been at the LSC Ballroom on the SHSU campus. Because new construction has made parking access difficult, it was decided that the university would now use the ballroom facility as a closed pod site for SHSU.

Davis said the shelter had been a flu vaccination site previously, and DSHS has expressed that they liked the facility . . . .

Commissioners approved the agreement.

Commissioners also approved a wireless air card for use with the Walker County Mobile Command Center’s computers.
