Commissioners Consider Street Name Change

Published on September 25, 2012 by Larry Crippen

One of the many issues discussed at Walker County Commissioners Court Monday was in regard to changing the name of a street. Along with brother Dennis Bullard, local property owner Donna Jackson wants to change the name of Crooks Lane, which goes through her property, to Jimmie Lee Wynn drive in honor of her grandparents . . . .

Assistant District Attorney Quentin Russell said you had to have a compelling reason for a street name change–naming the road after her grandparents was Ms. Jackson’s. However, Commissioners voiced the view that there would be considerable expense each time a street name was changed, and it would cause many other local citizens to begin requesting street name changes.

Precinct #4 Commissioner Tim Paulsel spoke to the issue . . . .

Commissioners voted against approving the renaming of the street.
