Commissioners Help Pine Prairie Firefighters with Radios

Published on November 20, 2012 by Larry Crippen

Walker County Commissioners got together for a special session at the Courthouse Monday morning.

One of major topics for discussion involved radio funding for The Pine Prairie Volunteer Fire Department. Pine Prairie Chief Mark Robinson explained the financial issues to Commissioners and his department’s need for radios which would upgrade their equipment to legal status.

The County was already going to provide 70 percent of the money. The Pine Prairie department was required to provide 30 percent, which they didn’t have for the upgrade.

Commissioners agreed to allow them to secure the needed money based on Fire Management Assistant Grant funds which were to become available in the future.

Precinct #1 Commissioner B-J Gaines, Jr. explains their final approval . . . .
