Commissioners Move Ahead on New County Jail

Monday morning, Walker County Commissioners moved forward in their efforts to build a new Walker County Jail.

We talked with County Purchasing Agent Linda McKenzie . . . .

Sedalco President Tom Kader attended Commissioners’ Court.

Walker County Jail Administrator, Captain Steve Fisher, commented on Sedalco’s extensive experience in the field . . . .

Fisher said Sedalco’s rate of 3.6% was lower than what has been charged for jail construction across the state.

Commissioners also approved the purchase of 12.6 acres of land from TDCJ for the new County Jail at a cost of $157,500 dollars.
