County Building Burglarized

An overnight burglary of two county buildings in New Waverly between last Thursday afternoon and Friday morning is being investigated by the Walker County Sheriff’s Office.

The Precinct #4 Commissioners’ Road & Bridge barn and offices were broken into. The offices of Constable Gene Bartee and Justice of the Peace James Mature were vandalized. Tools and equipment were also stolen. It’s estimated that $2,000 dollars of damage was done and more than $5,000 dollars in items were stolen.
