Brad Paisley will be spending the 4th of July in Washington, DC with President Obama and the First Lady as part of the White House’s fourth annual ‘Salute to the Military’ USO Concert. The event will honor and thank the men and women of our armed forced and their families and feature a barbecue, games, music by ‘The President’s Own’ U.S. Marine Band, and a 60-minute USO show by Brad. The night will end with fireworks over the nation’s capital.
In celebration of Joining Forces, an ongoing initiative by First Lady Michelle Obama and Dr. Jill Biden, which calls for all Americans to show their support to military families, the White House Brad’s show is expected to be attended by more than 1,200 troops and military families, and will be streamed live on www.whitehouse.gov.
“The Fourth of July has always been about family, freedom and celebration,” Brad said. “I am so honored to be spending my holiday performing a USO concert for our troops and their families, and to be celebrating those freedoms with the men and women who put everything on the line to defend them.”
“Every day of the year, the USO finds ways to support and thank our troops and their families for their service,” Sloan Gibson, President of the USO, said. “As we head into our fourth annual ‘Salute to the Military’ celebration at the White House, it’s important to reflect on those sacrifices made by our troops and their families and to tell them how much they are appreciated. Take a moment this July 4th to say “thank you” to our service men and women and their families.”
The White House celebrated their first ‘Salute to the Military’ USO concert in 2009. Jimmy Fallon, Foo Fighters, Michelle Branch, Cedric The Entertainer, The Killers, Brandi Carlile, Train and Amos Lee are among the celebrities who have participated in the celebration in the past.
