The Americana Music Association has announced the 2012 nominees for the Americana Honors Awards. The announcement took place in Los Angeles and featured performances by special guests Lucinda Williams, Shelby Lynne and Robert Ellis with the Americana All-Star band. They honored Americana icons Levon Helm, Earl Scruggs and Doc Watson with a rendition of ”Will the Circle Be Unbroken” as the last performance.
Jason Isbell and Gillian Welch lead this year’s nominees. Jason is up for Album of the Year, Artist of the Year, Song of the Year and Duo/Group of the Year while Gillian is nominated for Album of the Year, Artist of the Year and Duo/Group of the Year.
