Jerrod Niemann spent Tuesday, October 2 with the fifth graders of the acclaimed PS22 Chorus. He stopped by their school, Public School 22 in Graniteville, Staten Island, N.Y. to donate new instruments. The chorus surprised him by singing along with his acoustic version of his current single, “Shinin’ On Me.” Jerrod spent time with the group telling stores of his humble beginnings and encouraging them to follow their dreams.
“Having a chance to meet and perform with PS22 was like no other experience,” he said. “Those children have so much talent and passion for music that I am so inspired and proud to be their biggest fan.”
The group’s singing was enough to make Jerrod’s day, but it was topped off as they chanted ‘Jerrod, Jerrod, Jerrod!’ after he presented them with a brand new digital piano and drum set. The piano was especially welcomed as their old piano was in need of repairs and the parts needed to fix it had been discontinued.
While in New York, Jerrod also stopped by CBS This Morning for an interview and performance of his hit “Lover, Lover” on ‘Live From the Couch’ in support of his new album, Free The Music, which was released this week. Check out Jerrod’s artist section for exclusive interviews, photos and more!
