OFFSTAGE: Carrie Underwood: "Bull Rider on the Side"

Published on May 23, 2012 by CMT News

Carrie Underwood
(CMT Offstage keeps a 24/7 watch on everything that’s happening with country music artists behind the scenes and
out of the spotlight.)

Carrie Underwood pushed Hoda Kotb
up onto a bull. That’s what I saw when I turned on Dateline:
20th Anniversary
a little late Tuesday night (May 22). Underwood and Kotb were reminiscing about their first interview
back in 2005 and talking about how much things have changed for Underwood in those seven record-breaking years. And a few
minutes into catching up, Underwood looked around and said/asked, “There is not a mechanical bull over there.” There
was, actually, a mechanical bull over there. So first, Underwood got Kotb up on it. That didn’t last long. Then she hoisted
herself onto it and said, “I’m ready!” Once it got going, she was a natural. “This is easy. This isn’t bad at all,” Underwood
said. “I’m actually a professional bull rider on the side.” The two also do a little karaoke. First, Tanya
Tucker
‘s “Delta Dawn,” then Kotb’s favorite: Flo Rida’s “Low.” Underwood (“Jukebox Carrie” as she’s known to her friends)
knew all the words to that one, right down to the Apple Bottom jeans and the boots with the fur.
