OFFSTAGE: Carrie Underwood: Everybody’s Not Sleeping With Everybody

Carrie Underwood
(CMT Offstage keeps a 24/7 watch on everything that’s happening with country music artists behind the scenes and
out of the spotlight.)

Carrie Underwood recently told
Rolling Stone she is a big fan of Nashville (the TV series and probably the city, too) because she thinks the
show represents Music City really well. “I love watching the show because I’m like, ‘I eat there,’” she said. But she does
want people to know that as real as the show seems, you
can’t believe everything you see
. “I hope they [viewers] don’t think all the ladies of country music are that scandalous
because I promise you, we’re not. I hope people don’t think it’s all backstabbing and everybody sleeping with everybody else,”
she said of the fictitious way that the drama has a few songwriters who jump from bed to bed and one young starlet who thinks
she can solve all her problems with a make-out session. “That’s really not [the case], at least to my knowledge. There might
be all kinds of stuff going on that I don’t know about, but not in my world. People really are pretty open and friendly and
normal.” Open and friendly and normal, but at least with an imagination to come up with a scandalous song (“Two Black Cadillacs”)
about a man’s wife and his mistress joining forces to murder him.
