OFFSTAGE: Hunter Hayes Makes Ellen Crowd Feel “Wanted”

Published on October 23, 2012 by CMT News

Hunter Hayes
(CMT Offstage keeps a 24/7 watch on everything that’s happening with country music artists behind the scenes and
out of the spotlight.)

It’s one thing to get the chance to watch Hunter
Hayes
play piano and sing his hit song “Wanted” about 30 feet from
you. But to have him get up from the piano and walk right up to you? Amazing. So I was so thrilled for the front-row audience
when he did just that on The Ellen DeGeneres Show on Monday
(Oct. 22).

After the bridge in the song, Hayes took his microphone and walked right up to the young women sitting
in the first row and sang the chorus. He literally made them feel wanted. I, of course, couldn’t take my eyes off his lyric-covered
grand piano. Does anyone know if they painted it with chalkboard paint before writing the song’s words all over it? Looks
like a Pinterest project to me.

By the way, Hayes recently admitted that he never really wanted much Halloween candy
because didn’t have much of a sweet tooth as a kid. “I did dress up quite a bit when I was a kid for Halloween,” he said.
“I wasn’t really a candy kid. I’m just weird like that.”
