OFFSTAGE: Jason Aldean Says "Don’t Compare"

Jason Aldean
(CMT Offstage keeps a 24/7 watch on everything that’s happening with country music artists behind the scenes and
out of the spotlight.)

Jason Aldean will be in Arizona later
this week. And I was there yesterday (Sept. 16). So I picked up a copy of the Phoenix newspaper, The Arizona Republic,
which
had a long QA with him,
and Aldean had so much to say about his upcoming Night Train album. Mostly that we shouldn’t
compare it to his last album, My Kinda Party. “We went in and cut something I’m really proud of, and I think if people
give it a chance and don’t compare, they’re going to love it,” he said of his simple approach to making new music. “Or hopefully,
they’ll love it anyway.” He also talked about how the album is going to be full of songs he can relate to and that are believable.
“It’s not me trying to convince somebody that I’m something that I’m not,” Aldean said. “This is me. And love it or hate it,
here you go.” I’ve believed that — and loved that — since 2005, when Aldean was singing about buying
beer at Amoco, cranking country radio, going muddin’ and smoking Pall Malls.
