OFFSTAGE: Jason Aldean: "This Beats the Hell Out of Real Jobs"

Jason Aldean
(CMT Offstage keeps a 24/7 watch on everything that’s happening with country music artists behind the scenes and
out of the spotlight.)

There’s isn’t much Jason Aldean doesn’t
love about his job. “I legitimately have fun onstage. I enjoy what I do. I love playing my songs. And I get wrapped up in
it when I’m out there,” he told me when he was in Chicago for his show on Saturday (Aug. 18). “I’ve had real jobs before,
and this beats the hell out of real jobs.” One such job was his short-lived career as an 18-year-old at Discovery Zone, which
he told me was like a Chuck E. Cheese’s on steroids. “I did a little bit of everything. I worked the front counter. I worked
in the kitchen some. And if some kid had an accident in the ball pit, I had to go clean all that stuff out. And I had higher
expectations for myself,” he laughed. As for his current job, Aldean has very few complaints, if any. “I don’t like performing
when it’s 110 degree outside because it gets to the point where you’ve just got sweat running down you and into your ear monitors,
and it starts to mess with how you’re hearing stuff, and it’s kind of aggravating,” he said. “Other than that, though, I love
what I do.”
