OFFSTAGE: Luke Bryan Was a Fan of the Easy A

Luke Bryan
(CMT Offstage keeps a 24/7 watch on everything that’s happening with country music artists behind the scenes and
out of the spotlight.)

Listen to Luke Bryan’s schedule from
his senior year of high school: physical education, weight training, shop, keyboarding and drama. Oh, and English. Pretty
nice, right? He was in Chicago over the weekend, and he told me all about those easy A’s he was after by the time he got to
that fourth year. “I always enjoyed school,” he said. “I loved the first day, but then again, I always loved the last day.”
He also admitted he wasn’t really smart naturally, so he just worked really hard. “I was the youngest kid in my grade, so
I was a lot more immature than everybody. I was kind of behind. But by senior year, I’d already hit all my credits, so it
was like PE, weight training, shop, keyboarding, drama and English. That was it,” he said.

Bryan’s four-year-old son
Bo is getting ready for pre-school this week, and he told me how bittersweet that is. “When they start going to school, it
means they’re getting older, and that breaks your heart,” he said. “People always say how fast they grow up. And when you
do what I do — going 90 miles an hour every day — it’s like you blink and then they grow up.”
