(CMT Offstage keeps a 24/7 watch on everything that’s happening with country music artists behind the scenes and
out of the spotlight.)

Miranda Lambert scared to death?
I know. I refused to believe it, too. But that’s exactly what she told me Wednesday night (June 6) on the CMT
Music Awards
purple carpet. I’d asked her what she thought when she looked back on her very first video — for “Me
and Charlie Talking”
in 2004.

“I was scared to death. I was like, ‘I’m not cut out for this video thing.’ I had
to have two talking to’s from my manager that day because I was panicked,” she said. “I didn’t know how to be in a video.
But now I’ve done a bunch, and I’ve learned that if it feels stupid, it will look good. That’s the whole thing.” She praised
video director Trey Fanjoy for making her not look nervous in that first video and all the ones that they’ve done since.
She was the director for Lambert’s “Over You,” which won a CMT
buckle for female video of the year last night. So Lambert would love to collaborate with Fanjoy again for the next Pistol
Annies
‘ video. “If we can afford her, we might,” Lambert laughed.
