OFFSTAGE: Miranda Lambert on Hamburger Steak and the Weather Channel

Published on May 21, 2012 by CMT News

Miranda Lambert
(CMT Offstage keeps a 24/7 watch on everything that’s happening with country music artists behind the scenes and
out of the spotlight.)

A couple of days before playing Saturday night’s (May 19) sold-out show in Nashville, Miranda Lambert told The Tennessean newspaper she was “not going
to make it a work thing.” From the reviews I read, it sounds like that’s exactly what she did. (Or didn’t do, I guess.) Even
before that, she admitted to the newspaper she
was nervous about trying to sell out an arena
. “I heard about all these other artists selling out in two minutes, and
I’m like, ‘I can’t do that,’” she said. “I was just a little bit cautious. And then my agent and manager called me and were
like, ‘Dude, you’ve got to play Nashville. This town has supported you forever.’ And it wasn’t because I didn’t appreciate
it.” But as much as Lambert seems to love being on the stage, she also cherishes her days when she’s off the stage. “I just
felt like I needed to start building in that time to be a wife and be a regular girl and stay home. We were home yesterday,
and I laid out at my pool by myself, and Blake built an electric fence around his garden. I came in, and we made hamburger
steak and we watched the Weather Channel,” she said. “It feels good to have those days.”
