OFFSTAGE: Taylor Swift on Fame and Friendship

Taylor Swift
(CMT Offstage keeps a 24/7 watch on everything that’s happening with country music artists behind the scenes and
out of the spotlight.)

It must be hard to find good, genuine friends when you’re as famous as Taylor
. Because what if they are just using you, just kind of hanging on to ride your coattails? Glamour
magazine asked her about those kinds of friends
, and she admits they do exist. But she seems like she almost doesn’t care,
saying, “Yes, you’re going to get burned a few times, but I’d really rather get burned a few times than sit alone in that
house with the curtains drawn.” She goes on to talk about her current close-knit group of pals and how she’s the kind of girl
who tells her friends everything. “So God forbid this person you’re hanging out with gets a bit of validation out of the fact
you’re famous,” Swift said. “Is that the worst-case scenario? You know, it doesn’t seem that bad.”
