Getting Tim McGraw to cut a song you wrote
is nice work if you can get it. It’s such a long shot, in fact, that songwriters Preston Brust and Chris Lucas of the LoCash
Cowboys
even joked about it. “Chris Janson, one of the guys we wrote it with, said we should make ‘Truck Yeah’ the next
LoCash single,” Brust told me. “And we go, ‘Well, if Tim McGraw doesn’t call tomorrow and say he wants to cut it, then maybe
we will.’ We were totally joking. But I’ll be a son of a gun if McGraw’s people didn’t call us the next day. Can you believe
it? The next day! It’s Tim. The icon. The greatest of all time.”
