Taylor Swift has a whole song dedicated to her feelings towards mean people so when she got wind of an internet prank to send her to perform at Horace Mann School for the Deaf and Hard of Hearing in Allston, Mass., she turned the tables and made a personal donation to the school, reports Taste of Country.

It started with a contest sponsored by Papa John’s and Chegg that allowed Facebook votes to determine which school would win a performance from Taylor. The mean-spirited pranksters banned together on 4chan to start a campaign similar to an internet prank that sent rapper Pitbull to perform at a Walmart in Alaska. Soon, voters from Reddit joined in.

Horace Mann headmaster Jeremiah Ford was supportive of the campaign knowing his school would receive $10,000 if it placed in the Top 5. On Monday, the school was disqualified from the contest because of the prank but Taylor stepped up with a personal $10,000 donation. The contest’s sponsors each matched the amount as did Cover Girl and American Greetings, resulting in a $50,000 donation to the school.

That wasn’t all though.  VH1′s Save the Music program donated $10,000 worth of musical instruments to the school. Taylor has also ensured that all Horace Mann students will receive free tickets to her next Boston-area concert.  Taylor will release her new album, Red, on October 22.
