Vince Gill was honored with a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame on September 6. His star was placed next to wife Amy Grant’s, his first request when he learned of the honor. He gave an emotional yet humor-infused acceptance speech during the ceremony in Hollywood.
“I moved here as a 19-year-old kid, as an aspiring young musician,” he said. “I don’t know if it’s the smartest thing I ever did but it was by far the luckiest thing I ever did. I came out here with a banjo and a guitar to sunny southern California to try to make it. You talk about one of your all time not brightest moves, that would probably be one of them.”

Vince was honored to have several of his friends show up for the ceremony. Among them was Reba, whom he acknowledged during his acceptance speech with trademark Vince humor. “I got a little lump in my throat when I saw Reba showed up,” he said. “Then I said ‘Hell, it ain’t that big of a deal. She lives here.’”
