Friday, the final witness testified in a Bryan courtroom in the capital murder trial of John Ray Falk Jr. who is accused in the murder of former TDCJ corrections officer Susan Canfield during an escape in 2007.

Friday, a Brazos County jury heard testimony from Dallas County medical examiner Dr. Tracy Dyer. Dyer said Susan Canfield died as a result of blunt force trauma to her head when the truck Jerry Duane Martin and Falk were escaping in rammed the horse Canfield was on.

Presiding judge in the case, 278th Distict Judge Kenneth Keeling, was also expected to review and determine if a letter Falk wrote to his mother a month following the escape was admissible as evidence.

The trial was scheduled to reconvene in Bryan this morning.
