Former U-S Attorney General Alberto Gonzalez was the guest speaker at SHSU’s President’s Speaker Series Tuesday.
As counsel to the president in 2001, he was with Bush on September 11th. At a press conference before his presentation, we asked him, “On the issue of privacy of the individual versus the need to gather information to insure our national security, what were some of the issues you dealt with in this area . . . .”
Gonzalez said, “Sometimes the government doesn’t get it right, and that’s what the courts are there to do is to make sure that the government is only doing what it’s allowed to do under the Constitution.”
