HISD Board Meets Tonight

HISD will have their regular Board of Trustees meeting at six this evening at the Hawkins Administration building.

They will feature students, staff, and others in their board recognitions tonight.

Tonight’s “Consent Agenda” includes approval of printing services bids, 2013 school bus purchase approval, approval of 2012 summer renovation and facilities upgrades, approval of a resolution for review of HISD investment policy, and approval of Region VI service center contracts.

Tonight the Board will also look at approving local TASB policy on a manual regarding student welfare which focuses on freedom from discrimination, harassment, and retaliation, and student welfare, which regards freedom from bullying. The Board will also consider approval of the architect firm to develop preliminary facilities plans, and approval of a child nutrition program meal price increase.

Annual program evaluations are on tonight’s agenda, including a look at bilingual/ESL, advanced academics, and career and technology education.

Board members will hear a report on campus improvement plans. They will also look at the Spring grade 10 and 11 TAKS and Grade 9 STAAR end of course results.

Superintendent, Dr. Steve Johnson, will have a report on the Old Samuel Walker Houston School.
