The Huntsville City Council will meet in regular session tonight at six at City Hall.

Tonight the Council will hold a public hearing to receive citizen input regarding the proposed Houston-Galveston Area Council Regional Hazard Mitigation Plan.

Approval of the Hazard Mitigation plan is on tonight’s “Consent Agenda.”

There are several items on tonight’s “Statutory Agenda.” The Council will discuss authorizing the construction of a 12-inch gravity sanitary sewer line from the TDCJ Goree Unit to the city’s wastewater collection system near Highway 19 and Southwood Drive. There will be the first readings of ordinances regarding speed zones on I-45 east and west frontage roads within Huntsville with speeds in excess of 30 miles-per-hour. Councilmembers will also have a first reading and discuss applying for and accepting, if awarded, and implementing a request for an amendment to the Texas Department of Emergency Management for no more than an additional $1,850,800 dollars for the Community Safe Room.

The City Manager may file his report on the activity of various City departments.

The Council will also convene in a closed Executive Session for deliberation regarding economic development negotiation. They will also discuss personnel matters regarding Interim City Manager Chuck Pinto.
