Published on June 15, 2012 by Larry Crippen

The Progressive Women’s Association of Huntsville, in celebration of Texas’ abolition of slavery, will host a Juneteenth Parade tomorrow.

The entire community is invited to participate. Line-up begins at 8 AM Saturday next to the Samuel Walker Houston Cultural Center at 10th Street and Avenue P.

A celebration and awards ceremony will be held after the parade under the outdoor pavilion of the Martin Luther King, Jr. Center. The opening prayer will be offered by Reverend David Briggs. SHSU alumnus Drae Murray is the featured guest speaker.
