Power Being Restored Following Last Night’s Storm

Published on June 13, 2012 by Larry Crippen

In the aftermath of last night’s storm, the local law enforcement dispatch center for Huntsville and Walker County around five this morning reported several power lines down around the city overnight. The dispatcher reported that, for the most part, most of them had been restored to power. Restoration of power is still underway in some areas.

Entergy’s Stan Foley reported at 6:30 this morning about 1,200 customers out. He said additional resources had been called in. The restoration estimate is six o’clock tonight. About half of the restoration will be in the New Waverly area.

Overnight, Mid-South Synergy had reported 6,000 members without power. There was flooding on some area streets. Gates were closed because of flooding on Bearkat Boulevard yesterday. Around four Tuesday afternoon, the Walker County Office of Emergency Management reported trees down on FM 1374 at Darrell White Road, on FM 405, Fish Hatchery Road, and at the weigh station on I-45.
