Stanley Kelley, chair and professor in Sam Houston State University’s department of agricultural and industrial sciences, was recently awarded the 2012 United States Department of Agriculture Food and Agriculture Sciences Excellence in Teaching Award and the 2012 American Association of State Colleges of Agriculture and Renewable Resources Distinguished Educator Award.

Kelley is the first recipient from Sam Houston State to receive either of the national awards.

The USDA Excellence in Teaching Award is awarded to one recipient in the southern region and was presented during the Association of Public and Land-Grant Universities annual conference in Denver, Colorado last month.
