Toy and Food Drives Continue

Tis the season for giving, and with KSAM & “104-9 the Hits” having just wrapped up their Make-a-Smile-Happen toy and food drive, many other organizations throughout the community are still collecting items.

Good Shepherd Mission is accepting food and donations Monday through Friday.

The SAAFE House has the Santa’s Sack and Adopt-a-Family programs where volunteers and donations are requested. For more information, contact Dee Everett at SAAFE House at 291-3529. Tomorrow, from 9 to 1, Girl Scout Troop #10594 will be hosting a toy drive to benefit SAAFE House at the Girl Scout House on Avenue M.

The City of Huntsville’s Zumba class will be collecting canned good donations at their exercise class tomorrow at the MLK building from 10 to 2.

The MLK Trail Riders are holding their 2nd Christmas toy drive from to 2 to 5 PM on Saturday, December 15th, at the the Samuel Walker Houston Cultural Center. Nice used coats will be given away to children 1 to 11 years old.

CASA is working to give foster or group home children items on their wish lists. Call CASA at 291-6363.

Huntsville Head Start is looking for organizations, groups, businesses, or individuals to adopt a family for Christmas. For more information, call Maria Dooley at 291-9190.

Tri-County Services is accepting clothing, toys, food, and cash donations to give to kids and adults. You can also adopt an individual or family for Christmas or you can volunteer. Call Shane Burks at 521-6123.

The Sears Hometown Store on Etheredge Boulevard is asking residents to donate non-perishable food items.
