Traffic Shift on State Highway 19

Published on September 24, 2012 by Larry Crippen

On Tuesday, September 25th, weather permitting, the Texas Department of Transportation’s contractor will open the newly constructed northbound mainlines of SH 19 to traffic. The northbound inside lane will remain closed, but traffic will be maintained on the new outside lane. This lane closure will enable the contractor to complete work in the median of SH 19. Southbound traffic will remain in its current configuration with the southbound inside lane to remain closed to further enhance safety for the remaining work. Since the southbound inside lane is the current northbound travel lane, keeping that lane closed will guard against errant vehicles traveling the wrong way in that lane.

Also on Tuesday, the contractor will open the newly constructed northbound exit ramp to Bearkat Boulevard which also provides access to US 190, new northbound entrance ramps at SH 75 & US 190, as well as the northbound exit ramp at SH 30. The existing two-way ramps at US 190 and SH 75 will be converted to one-way operation. The newly constructed signal at SH 19 and Old Colony Rd will also be fully activated.
