The HISD Board of Trustees held a Board Workshop on Tuesday, May 21st, to discuss the 2013 Bond Election that was held on May 11th.
Five of the citizens attending provided the board with their insight regarding the results of the recent election.
Board members also provided their perspectives regarding the proposed bond election and thoughts on the subject of future planning to improve school facilities.
The general consensus of the Board was that the district needs to continue moving forward with planning for improved facilities for the students of the district, to broaden the community groups participating in the Long Range Facility Planning process, to work to keep everyone engaged in the process, and to be patient and allow the process to determine a timeline for calling another bond election.
It was expressed that information needs to be gathered from multiple sources including staff, community forums, surveys, and election results.
And, the district also needs to re-look at various options for improving the district’s facilities.
