AFSCME Union Seeks Pay Raise

Just this last week Lance Lowery, president of the AFSCME Union for correctional employees, testified before the Texas House Select Committee on Appropriations that if his members didn’t get a cost of living raise the hiring situation would only deteriorate.

He says the increased oil drilling and fracking activity in East Texas is drawing away TDCJ correctional employees for better pay. Lowery filled us in on where the drilling activity is and what the union seeks . . . .
