Chase Ends in Huntsville Saturday

Published on December 16, 2013 by Larry Crippen

A car chase involving several law enforcement agencies ended in Huntsville Saturday afternoon.

Driving on Highway 75 between Conroe and Willis–a woman, who failed to stay in one lane–refused to stop her vehicle after police flashed their lights and activated their sirens.

Walker County officers joined the pursuit after the woman stopped at a light near New Waverly.

After the woman reached Park Road 40 in Huntsville, officers from Texas Parks and Wildlife joined in the chase. At one point officers tried to spike the rear tires of her vehicle, but it proved to be unsuccessful.

Eventually, more law enforcement units were called to assist, and the woman was stopped on Sam Houston Avenue on the SHSU campus.

A deputy from Montgomery County had to break the glass of her window to keep her from driving off, which resulted in the officer being treated for minor cuts.

The woman was transported to Huntsville Memorial Hospital for a mental evaluation.
