Chief Tom Grisham Comments on Cooking Safety

At this time of the year there’s a lot of activity in the kitchen and Huntsville Fire Chief Tom Grisham, our guest on “Around Town” this past weekend, tells us that between 43 to 57 percent of residential fires, depending on the statistics you utilize, are caused by cooking fires in the kitchen . . . .

He says to not put water on grease fires or carry the fire outside.

Chief Grisham also advised that kids should be kept outside a three-foot perimeter around the stove when cooking.
