At Tuesday night’s Huntsville City Council session, Finance Director Steve Ritter presented adjustments to the City’s budget overseen by City Manager Matt Benoit.
In regard to cost-cutting measures, the budget plan could still eliminate eight full-time and two part-time jobs, resulting in cutting $571,000 from the $618,000 general fund deficit.
Also being considered are the elimination of certain benefits, setting premiums, in-network deductibles, prescription deductibles, and in-network office visit co-pays for the City of Huntsville Medical Insurance Fund starting January 1st, 2014.
Premiums may increase, including an increase to deductibles.
Two public hearings on the budget are scheduled–the first on September 3rd and the second on September 17th.
