City Council Discussed Mural Issues Tuesday

Published on January 09, 2013 by Larry Crippen

The Huntsville City Council met in regular session last night at City Hall.

An issue of contention last night was over a proposed amendment to the 2012-13 budget that could cost around $14,000 dollars to determine the damages to a mural that is on the former Adams Furniture building in downtown Huntsville.

Councilmember Ronald Allen wanted to know if the damage to the wall that the mural canvas has been placed on caused the damage to the mural. Allen was concerned about knowing what condition the wall was in before repairing the mural. He also wanted to know what the building owner was going to do about the wall, and its future affects on the mural.

The ordinance was tabled by the Council for further investigation and discussion of the issue.
