City Council Meets

The Huntsville City Council will hold a regular session tonight at six at City Hall.

Before the meeting, at 5:15, there will be a special ceremony to rename the Aquatic Center in honor of Frank D. “Poncho” Roberts with a reception following at City Hall.

Tonight’s regular session includes two public hearings. The council will receive public input on an ordinance to amend the Development Code with a new chapter on Historic Preservation and an amendment to the Development Code removing a section on Noise Control and a Table of Noise Standards.

Tonight’s “Consent Agenda” includes an amendment to the 2013-14 budget, the discussion of grant applications, and the acceptance of an award by DPS and HGAC for a Homeland Security Grant for $65,000 and acceptance of the 2014 Victims’ Service Coordinator Grant for $47,400 dollars and allocation of an $11,800 dollar match.

Tonight’s “Statutory Agenda” includes possible action on a second reading on an amendment to the Development Code on Historic Preservation and a first reading on an amendment to the Devlopment Code removing a section on Noise Control and a Table of Noise Standards.

City Manager Matt Benoit may file his Manager’s Report this evening.
