City Council Meets

The Huntsville City Council will meet for a regular session tonight at six at City Hall.

Previous to the meeting, at 5 PM, Building Official Mike Roempke will conduct a work session which will include a presentation, discussion and possible action of the next phases of community cleanup projects.

Tonight’s “Consent Agenda” includes a second reading of an amendment to the code of ordinances regarding “Secondhand Jewelry and Precious Metals” sales. It also includes an amendment to the Fiscal Year 2013-14 budget regarding the Capital Improvement Projects budget.

There are several items on tonight’s “Statutory Agenda.” Finance Director Steve Ritter will discuss a second reading of an ordinance adoption regarding the City’s retirement provisions. Director of Community and Economic Development Aron Kulhavy will discuss the awarding of a bid for rehabilitation of a ground storage tank at the Spring Lake Water Plant project. He will also discuss, in a first reading, considering the award of a bid for rehabilitation of an elevated storage tank at the Palm Street Water Plant project. Director of Neighborhood Resources, Dr. Sherry McKibben, will discuss the first reading in consideration of the purchase and installation of 3 generators to be placed at various water well sites. Director of Parks and Leisure Matt Lumpkins will talk about the recommendation by the Parks and Recreation Advisory Board to implement new fees for athletic field rentals.

City Manager Matt Benoit may file his regular report.
