City Council Meets This Evening

The Huntsville City Council will meet for a regular session this evening at six at City Hall.

At five, before the regular session, there will be a reception in the large conference room to celebrate graduating seniors who are children of City employees and recipients of Employee Scholarship Fund grants supplied through employee donations.

At the regular session tonight, councilmembers will see a presentation of Employee Scholarship recipients, the new Fire Department video, and a presentation by the Buxton company on completion of the Retail Recruitment and Retention Solution contract with the City.

There will be a public hearing regarding removing certain Gas & Oil Wells from a Chapter of the Huntsville Development Code.

Tonight’s “Consent Agenda” includes an ordinance updating an Employee Policy and Procedure Manual section on Electronic Communications Policy and Cellular Telephones Policy, an interlocal agreement with SHSU’s Sam Houston Memorial Museum for the disposal of three decorative light poles, and an ordinance creating a Municipal Setting Designation located near the intersection of Avenue I and South Sam Houston Avenue.

Tonight’s “Statutory Agenda” includes possible action to authorize the City Manager to approve a Task Order for for the final design of the Old Colony Road Gravity Sanitary Sewer Project Phases #5 and #6, and an ordinance regarding removing certain Gas & Oil Wells from a Chapter of the Huntsville Development Code.

Tonight councilmembers will also hear the first reading of an ordinance amending a chapter of the Code of Ordinances by adding a new article on “Secondhand Jewelry and Precious Metal.”

City Manager Matt Benoit will also file his report.
