The Huntsville City Council will meet in a regular session at six this evening at City Hall.
Councilmembers will meet for a workshop at 4:30 to hear a presentation and discuss the City’s current employee and retiree health insurance plan and provisions. The members will also hear a presentaton and discuss various plan provisions available through the Texas Municipal Retirement System.
Councilmembers will take a look at several items on tonight’s “Statutory Agenda.” They will consider an ordinance calling for the November 5th Municipal general election, a resolution authorizing the replacement of speed cushions in the 2200-2400 blocks of Avenue S, the first reading of a renewal of an Industrial User Discharge Permit for Gardner Glass, the first reading of an ordinance creating a limited parking zone on University Avenue between 14th and 15th Streets, and a utility extension request for a sanitary sewer line extension located at 3233 Woodward Drive.
In other matters tonight, the Council will hear from Mayor Mac Woodward on proposals for Charter amendments for the November ballot, and from Councilmember Allen regarding an update to the Council on the Buxton contract.
During the City Manager’s Report, the City Manager, City Attorney and others will provide an update on the sale of property on Sam Houston Avenue known as the “Army Reserve Building.” City Manager Matt Benoit may also offer updates on other City issues.
