City Council Meets Tonight

Published on November 12, 2013 by Larry Crippen

The Huntsville City Council will meet this evening at six.

There will be a public hearing on removing a section on noise control in the Huntsville Development Code.

Tonight’s “Statutory Agenda” includes an amendment to the Development Code to add a new chapter on historic preservation and to remove a section on noise control.

Councilmembers may possibly ratify a resolution to make nominations for the Walker County Appraisal District Board of Directors for the 2014 ballot and may act to adopt a resolution to elect the 2014 Walker County Appraisal District Board of Directors.

Councilmembers will discuss approval of the nominations of McKayla Chamberlin, Dustin Nicholas Mendoza, and Laiton King to open youth positions on the Youth Advisory Board. They may also take action on the nomination of 2013 TIRZ Chairperson Don Johnson as the 2014 Chairperson for the Tax Increment Reinvestment Zone #1 Board of Directors.

City Manager Matt Benoit may also file updates on City activities.

The council will also convene in closed Executive Session to consider several matters, including receiving legal advice on non-profit exemptions from property taxes and prohibited activities, and to receive legal advice on the legal issues of David Griffin versus the City and Sandy G. Clark versus the City.
