City Council Meets Tonight

The Huntsville City Council meets for a regular session this evening at six at City Hall.

Tonight’s “Statutory Agenda” includes Director of Community and Economic Development Aron Kulhavy discussing the first reading of a request to change the name of Legion Road to Gordon Road. Also on the same agenda, Finance Director Steve Ritter will present a first reading and discussion on an ordinance to establish the City’s retirement provisions in the Texas Municipal Retirement System on the “50% repeating cost-of-living adjustment” and the “50% repeating Updated Service Credits” basis. Police Chief Kevin Lunsford will discuss the first reading of an amendment to the Code of Ordinances, specifically the article on “Secondhand Jewelry and Precious Metals.” And, City Manager Matt Benoit and City Attorney Leonard Schneider will discuss a first reading of removing a section from Chapter 2, Administration, of the the Code of Ordinances pursuant to the Charter election removal of the employee grievance appeal to the City Council.

Also tonight, Mayor Mac Woodward will talk about possible action to approve an amendment to the City Manager’s contract, and consider action on the appointment of Stacy Godby to an open adult position on the Youth Advisory Board. The Mayor will also discuss possible action to authorize the City manager to enter into a contract for strategic planning services.

City Manager Matt Benoit may also update various City activities.
