Published on January 02, 2013 by Larry Crippen

In Walker County Commissioners Court Monday morning, Commissioners approved an Interlocal Cooperation Agreement between Walker County and the New Waverly Independent School District for a School Resource Officer.

We talked with Precinct #4 Constable Gene Bartee . . . .

Bartee says, “Eventually we hope to have a full-blown school resource officer program.” The officer, Justin Anderson, will be paid by the County and contracted to the school district. While working for the County he’s a traffic enforcement officer. At the school, he will perform school resource officer duties. The salary will be $10 dollars an hour with no medical benefits, sick time, or vacation time. Anderson is a full-time firefighter in Houston and will work for the County on his days off.
