Commissioners Move Forward on Tax Abatement Reinvestment Zone

Published on August 27, 2013 by Larry Crippen

Monday morning Walker County Commissioners took step one toward creation of a Tax Abatement Reinvestment Zone Number One.

Precinct #4 Commissioner Tim Paulsel said the Chemex Company has acquired 12.81 acres just outside the city limits of New Waverly on a feeder road just north of Burger King . Commissioner Paulsel said they’ve held the public hearing, done the notification, and sent paperwork to taxing entities.

He also said, “Chemex has been awarded some Texas Capital Funds for infrastructure–water, sewer–to that site . . . .”

Paulsell said, “This is going to be a good development for Walker County.” He reiterated that “We needed to create the zone first . . . then we could move forward at a later date.” Commissioners approved the agenda item.
