Two more candidates will be running for City Council in Huntsville.
Joe Rodriguez, a retired FBI agent from Elkins Lake, will be running unopposed for Ward #4 since incumbent Clyde Loll did not file for re-election by the deadline Monday.
Mr. Rodriguez is a combat veteran of the Vietnam War. He was with the Dallas Police Department for 12 years before being employed with the FBI.
He now does volunteer work for Huntsville Memorial Hospital, the Cabin on the Square, his church, and in Elkins Lake.
Retired maritime executive Andy Brauninger is running in the City Council Special Election in November. He will be running for the Positon #1 spot vacated by James Fitch. He will be running against former TV news anchor Rachel Williford.
Brauninger worked in the offshore and inland maritime industry for 40 years, spending the last years as president of an offshore maritime company. He now works part-time as president of an inland tug company.
Mr. Brauninger is a deacon at University Heights Baptist Church, has been a CASA volunteer, and a past chairman of the Tu-Mile Quail Coalition chapter in Huntsville. He lives in Elkins Lake.
