County Commissioners Hold Public Hearing on Taxes Today

Published on August 19, 2013 by Larry Crippen

Walker County Commissioners will hold two public hearings on a proposal to increase total tax revenues from properties on the tax roll today and August 26th.

The average taxable value of a Walker County homestead this year is $111,565. If the governing body adopts the effective tax rate for this year of $.657 per $100 of taxable value, the amount of taxes imposed this year on the average home would be $733.87. If the proposed tax rate of $.677 is adopted, the amount of taxes on the average home would be $756.19. Members of the public are encouraged to attend the hearings and express their views.

A “Budget Workshop” is also on the agenda.
