On Tuesday, September 3rd, a public hearing on the proposed budget for Walker County fiscal year October 1st through September 30th will be held at 9 AM. This budget will raise more revenue from property taxes than last year’s budget by an amount of $1,612,756 which is a 10.76% increase from last year’s budget. The property tax to be raised from new property added to the tax roll this year is $299,925. The meetings will be held in the Commissioners Courtroom, First Floor, at 1100 University Avenue. All interested citizens will have the opportunity to give written and oral comments.
The proposed budget may be examined weekdays at the office of the County Judge at the Walker County Courthouse, 1100 University Avenue, between the hours of 8 AM to 12 noon and 1 PM to 5 PM, or in the County Clerk’s Office during the same times.
