County Helps Fund Riverside Fire Truck

At Tuesday’s meeting of the Walker County Commissioners, partial funding for a fire truck for the Riverside Volunteer Fire Department was considered.

Precinct #1 Commissioner B-J Gaines, Jr. said the County’s share of helping fund the fire truck would be $15,893. He said around $70,000 in funds had been raised for the truck. The Emergency Services District had funded $5,000 for the truck.

Commissioner Gaines described the truck as a first-responder grass and brush truck. Gaines felt the truck would benefit several communities .

County Auditor Patricia Allen provided Commissioners with sufficient alternatives to funding for the truck, and Commissioners approved.
