County Sheriff Talks with Commissioners about San Jacinto County Jail Contract

Houston County has been housing inmate overflow from the Walker County Jail while our new jail is under construction.

Walker County Sheriff Clint McRae went before County Commissioners at a special session Tuesday to get permission to contractually expand his options for housing inmates at a lower rate than Houston County charges . . . .

Walker County still has to provide transportation and medical services for their housed inmates under the agreement. The court approved going ahead with the interlocal cooperation agreement for jail services with the San Jacinto County Sheriff’s office.
